Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust

The Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust (CCALT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Colorado’s working ranches, farms, and agricultural landscapes through voluntary conservation easements. CCALT partners with landowners to protect productive agricultural land from development, ensuring long-term stewardship and the continuation of Colorado’s rural heritage. The organization is primarily funded through grants, donations, and partnerships with public and private entities, rather than through commercial activities. Founded in 1995 by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, CCALT has become a national leader in agricultural land conservation, having conserved hundreds of thousands of acres across the state. Candidates should be aware of CCALT’s strong ties to the ranching community and its pivotal role in balancing land conservation with agricultural productivity.
