Freeform is an American multinational basic cable channel owned by Walt Disney Television, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It primarily targets teenagers and young adults with a mix of original series, movies, and acquired programming. The channel generates revenue through advertising and subscription fees from cable and satellite providers. Originally launched as CBN Satellite Service in 1977, it underwent several rebrandings, including The Family Channel and ABC Family, before becoming Freeform in 2016 to better align with its youthful audience and contemporary content.
