Santee Cooper

Santee Cooper, officially known as the South Carolina Public Service Authority, is a state-owned electric and water utility company in South Carolina. It generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to over two million South Carolinians, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers, through direct service and wholesale agreements with electric cooperatives and municipalities. Established in 1934, Santee Cooper has played a significant role in the economic development of South Carolina by providing reliable and affordable energy. The company has faced challenges, including the failed V.C. Summer nuclear project, which has influenced its strategic focus on diversifying energy sources and increasing renewable energy investments.
