Global Refuge

Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is the largest faith-based nonprofit in the United States dedicated to serving immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees. Founded in 1939 and headquartered in Baltimore, MD, the organization provides resources, guidance, and community support to help newcomers integrate and thrive. Global Refuge operates various programs, including asylum services and employment assistance, and has earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The organization is funded through donations and partnerships, and it recently opened a new Welcome Center in Baltimore.
